Finally I finished my Software and Metrics project. The Documentation is here for any of you that are interested. I'm out tonight to yet again celebrate Alan Sheedy going to OZ…hopefully it won't be as mad as last weekend. I don't think my body can handle another one of those weekends. I got a book on austraila ,”Lets Go Austraila 2002″, so i can read up on what to do when I get there. In the Sydney employment section it said that people with IT qualifications tend to to do better than anybody else and always seem to get a job quicker than anybody else too. It's all good.
C++ C++ C++
C++ coming out my frikkin ears but it all seems to be going well now though, and I'm on track to reach my efficiency week goals.
Galway sets benchmark.
Toooo tirreedd too tyyppe ….will update later.
Update:- What a wicked weekend ..off our trolleys we were the whole bleddy lot of us especially that Dooley fella and David Bernie; was he even in Galway. For me that weekend set a benchmark for nights out to live up to. From the copious amounts of beer made of rice, the winning of money from a race I didn't even know about, the possy of elderly hotties in the hotel bar, the hen party dressed up as reindeer, the fondle Enda gave me in the Gents (It's ok I didn't mind), the senegalese doctor from cavan, the old skoool dance toons in Cuba and finally to the re-inactment of our times at a Gaeltacht colleges in Joners room. Final words “Ni Credim” agus “Ceard a rinne se”.
Carnage…(non-alcoholic kind)
Absolute carnage last night trying to get home from college due to the lake-like floods. I eventually gave up after trying all the roads that i knew and stayed in Conor Oddballs house for the night. I headed off at 10am this morning trying to get home from the east side but alas no joy yet again. I ended up in swords in Garys house where I satyed for a few hours unitll I tried to get home again at 3pm. I eventually managed after being turned away at a good few roads. Time I left DCU 8:30pm. Time I got home 4pm the next day. It took my mam 5 1/2 hours to get to Kilbride (her friends house not home) from Kilcock. The Navan road was like a war zone today with abandoned cars all over the place. Some people must think that their cars double up as boats….. Anyway off to Galway tomorrow woooohooooo.
Update:- 19th November 2002 : Courtesy of an email from Alan Keogh I have some
images here of the carnage mentioned above.
C++ nightmares all over again.
Again I feel the wrath of the dreaded C++. I had an application that I had written and compiled in a previous version of Microsoft visual studio and when i tried to compile it again on the new visual studio .NET , all hell broke loose with error messages letting loose all over the place. I eventually got it working after 5 hours of trial and error. All I can say is Fucking microsoft and their fucking compilers. You might be wondering why it is that I post different images now and then; the reason for this is that after reading Joelonsoftware's article about how to write functional specs.. I thought it a good idea to brighten up the web page so as to make it easier to read. I think it has worked anyway. Check out Fluffycat.com; a very good resource for programming beginners.
It’s sooo pretty
How are things then folks?All (I'm probably talking to myself here)looking forward to Galway I hope… I definitely am. I went to the gym for the first time in months yesterday and boy did I burn. We did circuits and, although I am a naturally fit (cardio anyway) I was absolutely in bits. I think a few more vists to the gym will be in order if I am to compete for those ausie hotties next year.
College is shit I’m leaving.
I refer you again to my project deadlines here, and then to the date which is 12th November. Too much going on. I will be pushing some of my self inflicted final year project deadlines back me thinks. On a lighter note I'm 23 in 20 days. I hope you lot are saving…. I'll be posting my wish list soon. It's a big one.
I don't know who the creator of this quote is but ;
"We build (software) systems like the Wright brothers built airplanes — build the whole thing, push it off the cliff, let it crash, and start all over again." — R. M. Graham, 1968
Blood and car thievery.
I gave blood today….490ml of the stuff. I got a free lunch out of it too and we all know that free food is definitely a good thing. I went out on saturday with the lads and carnage is all I have to say… great craic. When I got home the next morning after Gary and myself spending the night in the car, I locked my keys in the car. "So what did you do?" I hear you ask…well my friends I broke into my own car. It was surprisingly easy. The keys were sitting on the passenger seat so I bent the passenger door back enough to get a wire in, I then hooked the keys onto the wire and pulled them up to the top of the window. I then bent the door back just enough to get the keys out. I then opened the door and bent it back into place. Granted I didn't break in properly but It wouldn't have been hard and it only took about 4-5 minutes to do what i did. I'm a beginner at it so I can oly imagine how fast the pros can do it. Beware the car thief people….. Beware.
One week to go.
Seems to be a common problem
It seems to be a common problem with the Wysiwyg editor's code that I used for my weblog editor; that it doesn't work on any browser other than Internet Explorer. Update: 3:49pm; I eventually found a solution…Now what I do is check the clients browser using the PHP environment variable "$HTTP_USER_AGENT" and depending on the value returned, include the appropriate file. If the User Agent (browser) is IE then the WYSIWYG editor is included else a plain textarea editor is included. Praise PHP.
