Finally after 3 re-installs I managed to get my dream machine up and running. My new machine arrived yesterday afternoon. It’s a Packard Bell iXtreme 6092 (minus monitor). It’s got an AMD 3000+ Processor with 512 MB RAM, 80GB hard drive and a DVD writer. And all for a very palpable GBP310, from ebay of course (tam-pcs). I have SUSE 9.1 Pro installed. I really like it, really smooth and fast and the apps I have installed could not be beaten; Firefox, Zend Studio, Open Office, Thunderbird, KOrganiser, KOpete, Amorok, Apache 2, PHP, MySQL, Mozilla, DigiKam, K3B, MrProject, KDevelop, XMMS, CrossOver Office -> thus (Adobe Photohop, Macromedia Flash MX, Macromedia Dreamweaver MX and internet explorer 6 [for testing only 🙂 ]) and loads of other great ones too. It’s a work horse, eating up everything I throw at it. Well that’s enough for now. I’m off to Norway tomorrow morning to my grandads funeral. I’ll be back on Sunday , back to the grindstone. Sya folks
